Jon has spent his entire professional career on the water. After graduating from UCONN with a degree in Marine Biology and minoring in Natural Resource Management and Engineering, Jon began his career working for NOAA.
He began his journey as an observer for NOAA working on commercial scallopers, gill netters, and draggers while covering ports from Maine to North Carolina for three years.
He operated pilot/crew and utility vessels in Eastern and Central Long Island Sound for several years, then worked as a captain for Project Oceanology based out of Groton, Connecticut. In 2012 he settled in at the Fishers Island Ferry where he is a Captain and the Marine Operations Manager.
He has extensive experience with fishing charter boats in Connecticut, working as both a first mate and captain on various vessels in the area. His knowledge of fishing these local waters has been honed by working with a variety of different captains while learning the techniques, locations, and timing for a successful customer experience.
